Here’s some information on how to move around and find content in our new website.

Navigation

Except where otherwise specified, text hyperlinks will be shown in blue and will be underlined when you mouse-over them.

Primary menu

This shows major areas of the site – note that links with a » character will open another CPAG website in a new window.

Left sidebar

The Online Publications menu will open the book structure as you click on relevant sections.

  • A right-pointing arrow indicates a section which contains more content beneath – click on the text to open it
  • A downward-pointing arrow indicates a section containing more content which has been opened
  • A circle indicates a section which has no content beneath it
  • The section you’re currently looking at is displayed in red and underlined.

Central area

  • Breadcrumb trail”: At the top of the text you’ll see a series of links separated by a » character. These will show you where you are in the book structure.
  • Body text: The body text will contain links which may be either normal text or a ► character.
  • Footnotes: If you mouse-over a footnote you’ll see the text. If you click on a footnote the page will scroll down towards the footnote text, which may contain hyperlinks to other content.
  • Book navigation: This is navigation at the bottom of the text. If your current record has more levels below it, you’ll see these shown below the text. At the bottom you’ll see up to three links: on the left, the previous record in the book; in the middle, “up” which leads to the next level up in the book, and on the right, the next record in the book.

Search tips

  • to search for a phrase, enclose the words with double quotes
  • use + (plus) for an AND query, - (hyphen) for a NOT query and , (comma) for an OR query
  • the search uses word stems – for example, searching for house will also give results for housing
  • the search ignores common words such as a, as, it, of etc, so combined with the word stems, right of residence will also find right to reside
  • the search may suggest alternative spellings – ie Did you mean:

Auto logout

Our subscription system may automatically log you out if it detects no activity for 60 minutes. This is to help avoid access problems with subscriptions that are shared between a group of users. If you are automatically logged out, you will see a message on your screen inviting you to log in again.

If you attempt to log in when the maximum number of users for your subscription is already logged in, you will get a message advising you of this. You will have the option to either wait till later or disconnect another user session, generally the one that has been idle the longest. That user will be automatically logged out and will receive a message informing them what’s happened.

Disconnecting another user risks causing them inconvenience, so you should bear this in mind before proceeding.
